Definition
The chauffeur driven service consists of providing the client with a 5 to 9 seat luxury vehicle with a chauffeur on receipt of an order form.
Licences for chauffeur driving and tourism entrepreneurs covered by article L.221-3 of the French code of tourism are issued by the local authorities of the head office of the establishment.
Applicants for this licence must contact their local authorities (préfecture) for information on the regulations pertaining to the conditions of professional aptitude required to exercise this profession.

Public Carriage Office or Chauffeur Licence
The chauffeur must hold a Certificat d'Aptitude Professionnelle (vocational training qualification) in chauffeur driving, known as a PCO or Chauffeur Licence. This licence is issued by the local authorities. Applicants must fulfill the following conditions:
- not have a criminal record.
- have been a holder of a driver’s licence for longer than 2.5 years.
- reside in the department to which the application is made.
- not have been convicted of any crime or have forfeited civic rights.
- hold a letter of intention of employment from a company holding a PCO licence.
- have undertaken a medical examination in an authorised centre.
